1. Food prepared with care
Good Food Buddy prepares and supplies fresh meals, frozen meals, deli food and desserts using food-handling practices intended to comply with applicable South African safety and hygiene requirements. Recipes, stock and seasonal ingredients can change; always read the information supplied for the specific item and batch.
2. Allergens and cross-contact
Our products may contain, or be prepared in environments where we handle, milk, eggs, wheat or other cereals containing gluten, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, sesame and other allergens. Even when a recipe does not intentionally include an allergen, accidental cross-contact may be possible. We cannot guarantee that any meal is entirely allergen-free.
Please review product ingredient and allergen details and notify us before ordering about a severe allergy or dietary requirement. A dietary note or allergy checkbox alerts our team but does not mean a special meal has been accepted: wait for explicit confirmation if a change is essential to your safety. If in doubt, do not consume the food.
We will not label foods as "allergen-free", "gluten-free" or comparable claims without the appropriate basis required by South African food-labelling rules.
3. Substitutions and dietary preferences
Menus may offer a replacement protein or ingredient when supplies change. Substitution depends on availability on the chosen date and kitchen confirmation. We will not knowingly make an unapproved substitution that conflicts with a recorded allergy or material dietary requirement. Vegetarian and "healthy" descriptions should be checked against each product's actual ingredients and preparation method.
4. Fresh-meal storage
Refrigerate chilled fresh meals promptly after receipt. Follow the use-by date and storage instructions on the individual package. Keep raw and ready-to-eat foods separate, and reheat food thoroughly according to its instructions. If a meal has been left unrefrigerated for an unsafe period, do not rely on smell or appearance alone to decide it is safe.
5. Frozen-meal storage and heating
Place frozen meals into a freezer promptly, following the temperature and best-before or use-by details on the label. For household storage, -18°C or colder is a widely used frozen-storage target, subject to the specific label's directions. Avoid repeated temperature cycling; thaw in a refrigerator if thawing is required and follow the instructions for the dish. Reheat food thoroughly and evenly, and check that the centre is hot before serving. Do not refreeze a product after thawing unless its label expressly permits it and safe handling conditions have been met.
6. Containers and appliances
Read the product's instructions before heating. Do not place metal or foil packaging in a microwave unless both the specific container and the microwave manufacturer's instructions expressly allow that use. Remove non-heat-safe lids, films and labels unless the packaging specifically instructs otherwise. Follow appropriate oven or air-fryer temperatures and avoid direct contact with heating elements.
7. Product labels and nutrition
Where required, packaging should provide accurate ingredients, allergen declarations, date marking, storage directions and batch or traceability information. Nutritional information, where supplied, may be estimated from recipes unless separately verified. Good Food Buddy does not provide individual medical nutrition advice; consult a qualified professional for medically prescribed diets.
8. Food safety concerns
Do not eat a product if you suspect it is unsafe, contaminated, incorrectly labelled, delivered warm when it should be chilled or frozen, or supplied after its use-by date. Keep photos, labels and packaging where practical, and contact us promptly. Your consumer rights remain protected under our Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy.
